Parveen Shakir or Beena A History of Great Poet
Parveen Shakir started writing at a awfully young age. She wrote prose and poetry, contributed columns in Urdu newspapers, and a number of articles in English dailies. Initially, she wrote beneath the pen-name "Beena".
After teaching for 9 years, she joined the officialdom of Asian country and worked within the customs department. In 1986, she was appointed second secretary of the Central Board of Revenue (now Federal Board of Revenue) in national capital, Pakistan.
In 1976, Parveen Shakir revealed her 1st volume of poetry Khushbu (Fragrance) to nice acclaim. اپنے گھر کی طرح وہ لڑکی بھی
نذرِ سیلاب ہو گئی شاید
تجھ کو سوچوں تو روشنی دیکھوں
یاد، مہتاب ہو گئی شاید

مر بھی جاؤں تو کہاں لوگ بھلا ہی دیں گے
لفظ میرے مرے ہونے کی گواہی دیں گے
لوگ تھرا گئے جس وقت منادی آئی
آج پیغام نیا ظل الٰہی دیں گے
جھونکے کچھ ایسے تھپکتے ہیں گلوں کے رخسار
جیسے اس بار تو پت جھڑ سے بچا ہی دیں گے
ہم وہ شب زاد کہ سورج کی عنایات میں بھی
اپنے بچوں کو فقط کور نگاہی دیں گے
آستیں سانپوں کی پہنیں گے گلے میں مالا
اہل کوفہ کو نئی شہر پناہی دیں گے
شہر کی چابیاں اعدا کے حوالے کر کے
تحفتاً پھر انہیں مقتول سپاہی دیں گے
